When recruiters go through your resume and skim through your experience, qualifications, name, education. There’s this one component of your resume that makes recruiters hate your resume and they just want to say “Sorry we’ve decided to move on with another candidate”.

Do you know what makes them hate your resume?

It’s this!

It’s your skills and interests!

No one cares if your hardworking, Motivated, and your enthusiastic. That’s not a real skill. Sure it’s great if you're hardworking. Awesome! But how does that help the company? Those aren’t skills you should be placing on your resume.

The skills you should be placing!

  • Platform Skills- Are you great at SQL, Quick Books, Payroll Software, Software that can increase profits in the company? Something that’s valuable? Then add that skill.
  • Computer skills (e.g. HTML, Java, Analytics, MS Office)
  • Data analysis (e.g. data mining, data crunching, database management)
  • Data entry
  • Marketing (e.g. SEO, SEM, CRO, CMS)
  • Project management (e.g. SCRUM, PRINCE2)
  • Mobile and Web Development (e.g. iOS, Android)
  • Accounting
  • Languages

But why can’t i just add normal skills? Like hardworking, self-motivated, etc?

Because most companies/organizations use ATS RESUME SCANNERS. Those resume scanners will automatically recognize those soft skills and those resumes will not be given to HR/Recruiters.

Also! Do this Skills + Numbers = Achievements

Type your skill along with the numbers and explain “what your role was and how did it help the company achieve ______.)
